Are you looking for a way to allow your customers to search products by SKU? If you own a WooCommerce website, you may have noticed there are no WooCommerce settings to enable SKU searching.
Well, there’s a solution. I developed a plugin called SKU Search will allow your customers to search by SKU. It’s completely free, you just set it and forget it. Actually, you don’t have to really set anything, you just have to install it.
How to Enable Search Products by SKU
There are just a few quick steps to enable SKU searching on your website. I’m going to assume you already have a WordPress+WooCommerce site setup already.
SKU Search
Since SKU Search is free, you don’t have to download the plugin from an external website. It’s available in the WordPress plugin directory. I’m going to quick run through how to install it, just in case you haven’t installed WordPress plugins before.
Another benefit to using SKU Search is dropdown menus for product variations are filled in, if given a variation SKU. This is a feature that not many alternative plugins offer.
How to Install SKU Search
1. Navigate to the WordPress Dashboard
The first step you need to do is login to your WordPress dashboard.
2. Navigate to the Plugins page
On the dashboard sidebar, look or the Plugins tab. Move your mouse over the tab and click the Add New subtab.
3. Search “sku search” In the Plugin Search
Look for the search field in the top right area of the Add Plugins page. In the search field, enter, “sku search,” and press enter.
4. Find and Install the Plugin
Once the search results appear, you may have to scroll down slightly to find the entry for SKU Search. It should look like this:
When you find the plugin entry, click the Install Now button.
5. Activate the Plugin
Once the plugin has installed (it shouldn’t take more than 5 seconds), click the Activate button.
Conclusion
Once you see the Plugins page again, you’re good to go! Now your customers can enjoy the ability to search products by SKU on your site.
